Getting motivated to exercise: The best tips for starting a good routine!

For those who have stopped exercising or those who have never made it a habit, it is always difficult to (re)start a good sports routine and maintain motivation in the long term. Many factors prevent us from getting started, such as time, energy, and family life. However, we can encourage a good return to sports with a few tips that allow for a boost in motivation and good consistency to get going.

Moreover, sports should never be a chore or a tedious task, but rather a personal pleasure for our mental and physical well-being!

Here are our experts' tips to (re)ignite your desire to exercise!

Tip 1: Never start on a Monday!

Let’s not hide it, we are always pushing back the moment when we should start our sports routine by saying to ourselves, "I will start next Monday." However, starting on a Monday is not necessarily a good idea for something that should be a long-term commitment. Numerous studies show that starting on a Monday puts too much pressure on us and risks destabilizing us for the future if we do not follow the program as planned. If you do not manage to start off well on Monday, you risk losing your motivation for the rest of the week and postponing it again and again to the following Monday. Take a random day during the week, or just start without really planning it. This will give you less of a feeling of having to follow a perfect pattern and will allow you to start without stress, enabling the new routine to settle in more easily.

Tip 2: Favor consistency over endurance.

To stay motivated and achieve results more quickly and effectively, it is always better to do 10-15 minutes a little every day rather than one or two hours just one day a week. Results come from consistency, and you only need a few minutes of exercise or stretching each day to feel the real difference! This allows the body to activate every day, to achieve visible results from the first week, and to maintain motivation and mental well-being. Don't forget to rest to regain strength.

Tip 3: Use social media wisely.

Social networks can be a source of guilt, demotivation, and stress if we do not use them to our advantage. However, we can completely use them to inspire ourselves, adopt beautiful ideas, and motivate ourselves towards our goals! Instead, follow inspiring and kind people who can provide you with new keys to succeed in your program and give you a source of inspiration to continue and fulfill yourself in your sports routine.

Tip 4: Don't get discouraged by the first aches.

If you have muscle soreness, it’s actually a good sign and you are on the right track! Pain sometimes pushes us to do nothing, but that’s when we must not get discouraged and keep going despite everything. If you are in a lot of pain, try to walk for at least 10 or 15 minutes, but it’s certainly not the time to stop because the soreness may take longer to go away. Activating your sore muscles will first relieve the pain, make it go away faster, and strengthen the muscle for the rest of your routine!

Tip 5: Eat smart!

The idea is not to go on a diet but to find food tips that will complement your sports routine. The best advice for promoting weight loss or body toning is to never eat too much in the evening, nor too late (avoid dining after 10 PM). Always drink plenty of water and accompany all your meals with vegetables or fruits of all kinds. Don't forget to allow yourself a few little pleasures from time to time, which are also part of your good mental health.

Tip 6: Choose a nice sports outfit.

Nothing is more motivating than wearing beautiful sportswear to feel beautiful and powerful! Choose beautiful colors and styles that will enhance you while providing comfort for your sport. A beautiful sports outfit is also about putting all the chances on your side to motivate you to feel good and beautiful in your skin.
